🦄 Strange Times
Mike the Headless Chicken
In 1945, a chicken destined for the chop miraculously survived the farmer's axe and ran around without a head for two years.
The farmer and his new headless chicken (now named Mike) left their farm in Fruita, Colorado, and hit the road, showing off the incredible sight of a walking, breathing chicken.
Scientists poked and prodded Mike to try to figure out how he was still alive, as people around the country gawked and stared. The answer lies in a chicken's brain, located at the back. Much of Mike's brain was still intact after the farmer chopped off his head. Mike didn't die from bleeding to death because of a blood clot.
Eventually, Mike choked to death in 1947 after mucus got stuck in his throat.
